While picking up an ebay purchase in Hastings Michigan, www.owwm.com/PhotoIndex/detail.asp?id=6185 ,
the owner asked me if I was interested in anything else he had crammed into a large pole barn.
I bought this grinder.
Baldor Model 612E 6" bench grinder (E for exhaust style wheel guards), built in 1976.
Serial number F776, built in Fort Smith AR.
1/3hp, 3.1A, 3600rpm, 115V, 60cy.
Missing: R outer guard, one wheel flange, both arbor nuts, spark guards and eye shields.
This is a smooth running grinder.
I'm going to clean the surface rust, replace the missing parts and get it into service.
Update-04/18/2010: grinder is disassembled and the body is cleaned and primed.
New bearings: NTN (Canada) 6203LL (double seal).
Original bearings: Nachi (Japan) 6203NK (double seal).
Update-07/10/2010: grinder complete and reassembled.
I found some complete NOS guard assemblies and used them on both ends of the grinder.
A replacement arbor flange was given to me by a fellow OWWMer.
The paint top coat is Krylon Smoke Grey.
Update-09/24/2010: sold grinder to a fellow OWWMer.
