Another eBay rescue, I found this guy hiding out in some guy's barn/shop/business in northern Ohio. Weighing in at ~550lbs, it runs very smooth and quiet (even with the old, worn belts). The power switch is integrated into the speed lever so the lathe is spun down to it's lowest speed every time it's turned off. This obviously proves to be a nice safety feature, but also forces the operator to run the reeves drive through much of it's range almost any time the machine is used (something typically recommended by manufacturers to keep the system working smoothly).

The Reeves system pivots between the stationary motor and spindle, and has solid cast pulleys. The bearings haven't been removed yet, but early quotes put them at around $30 each. I can understand why... they look huge for the size of machine they're in.
