Comments:
This 1945 vintage Unisaw (S/N 35-4684) was purchased new by an electronics manufacturing company and used very lightly over the years for building the occasional workbench or machine shipping crate. It was mostly used for sheet goods or construction lumber. The saw has the 1HP RI motor and was very complete except for the dust door knob and the original splitter/guard assembly and mounting brackets. It had a newer splitter/guard (OSHA requirement), but I had never seen it mounted when the saw was in use.
I worked for this company until the plant closed last year, and purchased the saw in a sealed bid auction for $325.00. As you can see from the ?before? picture, it was extremely dirty and had a little surface rust. It was completely disassembled, bearings and motor brushes checked, and everything was in great shape except the belts, which were replaced with link belts. I had the cabinet sandblasted, some holes filled, and then painted. I painted all of the cast iron parts and motor with an airbrush or by hand. The top was cleaned and waxed using procedures I found on the OWWM website. I used a special mix of Benjamin Moore alkyd enamel that was matched to Delta gray and the Biesemeyer fence lighter gray (I think it is a special edition Delta gray; I bought the fence from Biesemeyer?s closeout section). Although it is all grey, I like the two-tone effect. All the tags and plates are there and original, some just needed a slight touch up. I purchased the miter gage, blade guard/splitter, motor cover, and the Cutler-Hammer toggle switch from OWWM members and ebay over the last 8 months. The Jet-Lock fence was in pretty bad shape, and since I want to use the saw, the Biesemeyer was added. Many thanks to Keith Bohn for answering a lot of questions on the ?back channel? and to this site and all it?s members for the vast amount of information they provided for this restoration. It should be good for another 50 years now!

Comments: The original arbor wrench came with the saw, and I also detailed the miter gage.
