Another gift from Uncle Vin. This Crafstman / Parks 12 inch planer was received in fully operational condition and needed only to be cleaned and regreased. For good measure I adjusted the infeed roll and scotch brite cleaned all visible moving parts dealing with the infeed, outfeed and cutter head. I fashined an impromptu gear box seal to keep chips out of the gears. The seal is a mix of plumbers orange gasket material and blue RTV (used what was on hand). The stand was fully functional although not original so I decided to use it as is. Actually I like the design of the stand better than the factory originals. There is ample area around the base of the machine to lay workpieces, rulers etc. No disappointment at the moment of truth - The first piece came through beautifully with no snipe or ripples.
