Rockwell/Delta 12-RAS. After reading how many OWWMers got their machines through schools, I found out that my school board sells their surplus equipment once a week. I went for the first time last week (3/21/07). A couple of guys who went regularly told me woodoworking equipment was pretty rare. So imagine my surprise when I walked into this huge wharehouse, and in the back of the area of stuff to be sold was this saw on a pallet! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw $25.00 on the tag! After shoehorning it into my small SUV I got it home.
The saw came with a 2HP 3PH motor, made by Robbins & Meyers, Inc. The motor is Model#438-Q2-314-0570, Serial #FM32056DB. Daniel Wenzel, member, was kind enough to give me some help and tips on how he fixed up his machine (a 33-892 RAS).
I've started a bit of work on it; it doesn't look like the arm had been moved from the cross cut position in years. It had two spring loaded retractors on it. The second was welded to the top of the saw when the first one broke. After a bit of cleaning and lubricating it looks like all the mechanical parts work. Several knobs are missing, and it looks like it had a blade brake on the motor housing but that is also missing. If I can figure out how to replace the motor with a 115V I'll probably keep it, if not you may see it in the classifieds or on Craig's list.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, and thanks to everyone for this great site!
