Found this saw through arn match-maker Kudzu Jeff. Thanks again, Jeff! The saw was neatly tucked away in the Missouri Ozarks and had been in use until disaster befell the shop of the owner, Steve. In December heavy snow collapsed the roof of Steve's shop, exposing much of it to the elements. Miraculously, most of Steve's machines escaped injury. This particular saw had its fence knocked off, scotching Steve's resaw capacity. Word of Steve's misfortune reached representitives of the Mini-Max company, who sent him a newly refurbished bandsaw free of charge. The Silver now surplus, I relieved Steve of this burden.

Hard to pin down a manufacture date on this. There really aren't enough catalogs and/or photo index entries to even hazard a guess.

This is the "improved" Silver 20" as it has 20 1/2" wheels and takes a 125" blade (per the 1911 and 1916 catalogs). Steve let me know that it came to him with a flat belt pulley on it, although he didn't have it any longer. The upper shaft has been turned down, the wheel bushed, and a grease zerk fitted. The lower wheel shaft has been replaced and needs new babbit. Fence rails had been (rather nicely) welded to the table and there are now minimal scars from that fateful day. There is at least one crack in the upper wheel spokes and the table trunnion is also cracked. I'm not sure what I'll do about them, I may just let it ride.

The motor that came with it is a GE 3ph 208v 3hp beast of a motor. Man is it big. The pullies are for dual B size belts.

I'm probably not going to get to this guy for a while yet. When I do, progress will be recorded at http://www.joewells.org/owwm/Silver20 . Before pics are already up.
