This machine was used at Parlor Furniture in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. My great uncle bought it from them when they went out of business and I got it from him. It appears in the 5th edition of American Wood Working Tools catalog as a Clement No. 1 radial borer, but the picture has American cast in the side. My machine has Frank H. Clement cast in the right side and the tool closet door. It has two spindles that can be adjusted from 1" on center to 8" on center. They can also be rotated from horizontal to vertical and anywhere in between. The two spindles are steel running in cast iron, not babbit. I do not know when it was converted to electric motor. One shaft was replaced by my uncle.
