I bought this little gem along with a Craftsman heavy Duty Polishing Head. This one was set up with the two wire wheels, while the Craftsman was set up with buffing wheels. There is a boss and mounting hole on each side of the casting. I assume they were for tool rests that have long since gone AWOL.
Although it is covered with a good coat of grime, the paint is in decent shape. There is a hint of red paint under the current blue/gray, which leads me to believe that red was the original color.
Spring cap oil cups feed porous bronze bushingsThe bushings are tight.
Open casting allows driving from rear or below.
I think this one will just get a good cleaning and be placed into service cleaning up other OWWM.
EDIT: Changed my mind. Stripped her down and hgave her a shot of bright red paint. A nice compliment to the Royal Blue Craftsman grinder.
