I purchased this saw, in the summer of 06, from a local commercial builder that was unfortunately, auctioning it's assets. I have some of the original paper work from when they were looking to purchase, the purchase, and later parts being ordered. I was hoping I'd find the original invoice/receipt, but did not. I think it was purchased in 71.

I haven't been able to power the saw up yet.... waiting till spring to have a friend upgrade the power in my garage.... this 5hp saw, is single phase, but 240 volts.

Original still makes this saw.... it's the smallest of the Super Duty series.

My experience with live auctions is quite limited. I was a bit later in arriving that I had hoped, and the auction had already started. I quickly decided that I should look around to see what I could realistically purchase/use/haul. Upon walking into the small wood shop area, I saw this HUGE radial arm saw..... I thought WOW, that would be nice to have, but quickly decided that it would go for much more money that I wanted to spend on something that I didn't need. Well..... when the auctioneer finally got to the RAS, the bidding started and then stalled.... it was real low still! This little voice in my head said "Raise your hand".... I did, and I won the auction!!! My first thought was that maybe I misunderstood the bid amount..... possibly another zero was on the end of my bid? A guy behind me asked if I got it for $250, or $275..... I said I didn't know, but it didn't matter :-) He said, "Yeah, your right!" That whole part of the auction was a blur.... I literally had to take a few moments to collect my thoughts and calm down!

Later, I found that I got the saw for $250!! Most of the guys in attendance seemed to be small time contractors that didn't need a big saw, or they were after the real big equipment.... backhoes, cranes, etc.

These pictures are as the saw sits in my cluttered garage.... come spring time, I'll start the process making the space usable, and take better pictures.
