I bought this machine a few days ago from a fireman who inherited it from his grandfather and thinks that it was purchased in the 1930's. He says he remembered using it as a child at his grandfather's house. It was in really good shape.
The machine runs like new - and has what I believe to be the original motor. It's a hoover brand motor that says "patented in canada october 19, 1937". The attached pictures are after I wet sanded the table with wd-40 intead of water and a light coat of grey paint on the main castings. Glossy spots in the photo are because the paint it still drying.
The machine is mounted on a stand that I and the previous owner guess his grandfather made of some true 2x material and inverted baseboards. Surprisingly sturdy.
I cannot believe how well designed, and manufactured this machine is. It is such a pleasure to use.
A welcome addition to the shop.
