I noticed this saw in my neighbor's garage in 1983 when I lived in Maryland. He used it to stack boxes on. I said, "Do you want to sell that old saw?" He said, "Yes, I've been wanting to get rid of it; it belonged to my father." He wanted $300. He helped me carry it across the street to my garage.
I installed a 220V outlet to run it. Only one v-belt was on the triple-drive shaft. I lived near Washington, DC and there was an exceptionally fine tool store there, W. S. Jenks. I told them what I had and they ordered me a matched trio of belts and sold me Freud blades. The saw has operated trouble-free since then.
I am amused by the old original motor -- it is 9" in diameter in a big, heavy housing and is stamped "1 HP". Can you imagine how conservatively rated this must be? It is over fifty years old and is operating perfectly.
