Comments:
I purchased this machine (used) years ago from a salesman at Voell Machinery in Waukesha, WI and have used it as needed ever since. I recently purchased the pictured base from the same salesman.
I noticed the model and patent decals when removing the masking tape I applied to prepare it for painting to match the new base. This inspired me to check into its history. It appears that this is one of the oldest complete and operating 654's around. Now I feel that it is too bad I don't have the original base and switch for it.
I read on one of the files on this website that Delta stopped using decals about 1937. The last patent date on the decal is 1935 (Canadian).
