Hey all,
Another new arrival via dual Rukerage from the frozen tundra of Michigan to the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains of NC. Thanks to Arthur for the first leg and thanks to Smitty for the second leg of the journey. This is a rare little machine and the only one I have ever seen. It was incorrectly listed at the auction I purchased it from. This model is only shown in the Oliver literature, that I have seen, as an accesory machine to a #308 Minnesota multiple spindle carver. It's a heavy little bugger with a cast iron frame that supports the spindle and a large oil resevoir. Authur had to carry this thing down 3 flights of stairs in the dark!!! With oil dripping down his leg! He will be an OWWM Olympic contender for sure.
Anyway it is supposed to have 1 wheel on the left and 3 small wheels on the right in descending order of size for the purpose grinding carving burrs. No tools rests, it must have been intended to be used freehand. Motor transfers via flat belt about 1 1/2" wide. The gray paint is not original and it most likely started life with black paint.
Seeyalllater,
Chuck
