The machine lists a patent date (Jan. 23, 1866) that corresponds to patent 52,219, granted to Hezekiah B. Smith for a tenoning machine.

This machine, which belongs to Bill McCarthy, has murals painted on either end of the machine, and has Gothic-style frame castings. They don't make them like this any more!
