This is my 2nd OWWM resto. It was just as rewarding as the first. I picked this up a year ago off ebay. The seller listed it as a "Sears Bandsaw". I was the only bidder and won it for $25. There was no stand but it came w/ a motor. It was in fairly rough shape but not horrible. This is my first BS and I have not yet used it. Still need to get a belt. I really like the Delta stands and thought it would look nice w/ the BS. I found a OWWM member w/ this stand, he sold it to me for $15....can't recall his name though. I painted it all w/ Rustoleum Dark Machine Grey using a rattle can.
On my last project(Delta TS) I spent more than a day removing the rust from the table top using mineral spirits and sandpaper. Well a while back somebody informed me that Muriatic acid removes rust from motorcycle fuel tanks real fast. So I thought I would give it a shot on the table top of the BS. Holy smokes, 100% of the rust was gone in less than 5 MINUTES! It looks great. Oh, the motor is not original it's a 1/4hp Dayton spilt phase. The motor only required a new power cord.
As I said before, I have not used it yet. I have been told to not expect great things from it. That the 3-wheel machines don't perform all that well and break blades often. I guess I will find out as soon as I go buy a new belt.
