I saw this machine at a local salvage yard. When I saw this cute little C-frame cast iron saw I had to buy it. I have a Delta Milwaukee 14" but this is a C-frame. How cool is that? Even though it's cast iron you can pick it up with one hand by the frame with no motor on it. Did I say it was cute? It's like a miniature Fay and Egan. I do not know the age but the serial number is 1033 so I would imagine it is from the 1920s.
It appears to be mostly complete except for the motor and the bottom guides. The bottom guides are wooden and not like that pictured in the H&A catalog from 1928.

Page 5 of the catalog has a picture that is identical to this saw. It is possible that this saw is early enough that the bottom guides are a different, earlier design. The guide blocks themselves are definitely shop made though. Another possible indication that is predates the 1928 catalog is the fact that it appears to have original green paint on it. The 1928 catalog indicates that they were painted blue. When I begin the restoration I may be able to tell if the green is original or not.
It does not have the snowflake wheel guards that were an option according to the catalog. Too bad because it would make a great little brother to my Yates-American Y-30 snowflake.
