Just picked up the DEC 20 off IRS Auctions
Put my max bid in on day 1 and waited it out and won ,Wow
After a very long search for this EXACT Poitras 1 1/4" model
Trip to pick up machiune was a 32 hour journey from Ottawa,Canada to Cincinnati OH,USA
2nd machine bought on Dec 20 and in Cincinnati too
Sold on Jan 22,2009
Machine is almost complete , including the 3 hold downs /4 , and the smallest throat plate , which can be orderd from General Canada
5 HP 208/3 2 speed ( 4300/8200 rpm ),weight listed at 1020 lbs.
Crapy Blue paint that was painted generously with a white wash brush has been all striped off ( wire brush/grinder ) , the original paint was too far gone to be saved
So it was painted " Hutch Green " with the handels changed from Red to Gloss black
Referb time was about 12 hours of grinding and then
30 min of painting with 1 quart/2 coats ( HVLP )
This Exact machine is still made by General Canada ,
In fact its the only 1 1/4" shaper they still produce , as their line
is slowly shrinking , as being replaced with the cheaper General International Crap
the new machine comes with a tin cabinet instead of cast , and drops 220 lbs
and slightly different miter guage slots in the table ,other than that its the same machine
Machine completed Dec 31 , for new yrs eve
