I'm posting this machine because it is of historical interest. The machine pictured and badged "Oliver" is exactly the same machine as the David and Wells horizontal boring machine, the machine's original manufacturer. The large logo plate is even in the same position as the last of the Davis and Wells models [see posting elsewhere in the photo index]. My speculation is that Davis and Well, and later Rankin Brothers went out of buiness or dropped this item from their equipment line, they sold the design and/or inventory to Oliver. Interestingly this was probably in the very late stages of Oliver's existance. Does any one know the true facts?
