Comments:
This is the last model horizontal boring machine made by Davis and Wells and is after they were acquired by Rankin [see logo picture below]. These machines are coveted by furniture makers for doweling. They may be fit directal with screw on drill bits [see tooling picture] or may be fitted with a 3/4" x 16 TPI Jacobs chuck. The chucks are a little scarce. Preference is for a model 34B - 3/4. A 36B 3/4 may also be used. I acquired this machine from a local cabinet shop. It is in excellent shape, other than the motor bearings needing a little attention. The machine is fitted with a pneumatic clamp. This is not original to the machine, but were often fitted when used in commercial service. It will be removed and the original eccentric clamping devise will be reinstalled if one can be found.
