This scroll saw was purchased in Colorado by OWWMer Joe Potter for use in my shop, and brought to Illinois just before ArnFest 2006.
Sharp-eyed ArnFesters will recognize the motor from the ArnFest Auction.
Really, this scroll saw was almost plug-and-play. Came complete with the sabre saw guide and a magnetic blade holder. Only a bit of surface rust on the table, and some dried oil/sawdust sludge beneath the table. The crankcase was empty, requiring about a half quart of 30 weight non-detergent oil.
The upper guide tube was the biggest challenge, as it was pretty well stuck by decades of oil/sawdust glue. Managed to partially damage one of the sides of the clamp getting it free, but was able to salvage and re-use all of the parts.
This saw is the first powered tool that I'm letting my six-year-old use, and it was purchased specifically for this purpose. It runs smooooooth and quiet, and my son and I love using it together. In a couple of years, his brother will be using it as well.
Joe also brought along a Delta 50-716 Scroll Saw stand, shown in the photos. The Atlas is actually a bit longer than the Delta 1200/40-440, so a "custom" clamp was scavenged for the rear mounting hole. Not shown is the Delta 49-359 Retractable Caster Attachment, courtesy of Tim Kuist's rathole #2.
Thanks Joe and Tim!
