I acquired it about three months ago off e-bay.It was manufactured by American Wood Working Machinery of Rochester,N.Y. at their Williamsport,Pa. plant. The machine is listed in the eleventh edition catalog as the American Automatic No.20 Vertical Hollow Chisel Mortiser. It weight is listed at 1700 lbs.and could be ordered for line shaft hooh-up or with a three phase, three h.p.electric motor. The mortiser has 10,20,and 35 strokes per minute and a spindle speed of 3600 R.P.M.It came from the factory with a cast iron belt guard that is 12 inches wide by 6 ft.high and goes from the base on one side to the top then back down to the base on the other side. This machine came with thirtyfive chisels and bits of various sides from 1/4" to 3/4".The mortiser is complete and in excellent working condition.I plan to keep this machine for my pre 1925 OWWM's collection.
