I won this saw at the ArnFest '06 raffle. All of the parts moved freely, with no wiggle, so I could have just added a motor and a belt to this and used it, but I really enjoy restoring these old tools, so I did. Anyhow, I completely disassembled the saw, cleaned everything up with a wire wheel chucked in my drill press, scrubbed, sanded, wire brushed (with my Dremmel) the cast iron body, and primed and painted the body with Krylon gray (sorry, can't remember the exact shade) which was a little darker than what I believe the original gray to be, but it was close enough. Also, the table is just sheet metal, and was painted black previous to my owning it. Not sure if it came that way from the factory, or if that was done afterwards, but since the table wasn't in the best condition, I sanded it down the best I could, and reapplied black paint to it. When I disassembled the saw, I broke the pulley, which, according to the 1937 Powr-Kraft catalog, was the original pulley. Dang! Anyhow, a $12 pulley later, and it was fine. The motor came from a new/used tool store (called Tool Store). It had a $20 price tag on it, but the guy let me have it for $10, and I didn't even try to haggle the price this time. It's a 1/4hp Westinghouse motor (probably from a heater or dishwasher or something?) with the proper sized pulley already on it. I wired it up, threw in a switch, built a rough, but workable stand for it, and she fires right on, and works like a charm.
Also, I'm not sure what the serial number is since there are no tags on this saw whatsoever. Stamped in the cast iron frame is 1F, and also, under the cam is stamped 2. Also, when I stripped the paint from the table top, I found Y0247348 hand engraved in the table. Maybe that's the serial number that the previous owner decided to engrave in the table when the tag fell off? Not sure.
