Comments:
Very precise small table saw, originally built for the printing industry but now regarded as obsolete (and non-OSHA!) There is a sliding, ball-bearing supported section of the table which resembles the sliding tables on the most expensive and precise woodworking table saws currently made... and provides the same benefits. However, miter cuts in more than one plane require a jig, since the Hammond's blades do not tilt.

Hammond saws have an odd three pin blade-to-arbor mounting system which requires either a machinist's careful modification of the high speed arbor to attach ordinary woodworking blades or - probably safer, cheaper and easier - the custom boring of appropriate holes in each new saw blade to be used.

For more extensive discussion of possible modifications, see the Fine Woodworking article reprint at http://files.owwm.com/PDF/Restoration/Hammond-Glider.PDF .
