Iola Planing Mill planer. St.Louis was the nearest industrial city providing machinery to the growing towns during the western expansion and settlement. It's not surprising that the core machinery of the I.P.M. is Hall & Brown, plus one Yerkes & Finan. The first machine we poured babbitt in. An excellant general purpose planer. Otis Ayling, who worked in and then owned the mill from the late teens to early 1970's, said that this planer was a sure source of cash flow, that he and his wife set aside saturdays to work together planing lumber for the locals. Original paint and detailing.
