I bought this in 1999 from a guy who had been storing it for a friend who had recently passed away. He was asking $100 - we haggled down to $60.00.
He was able to get power to the machine and as everyone else slowly backed away, I turned it on.
With the bright light of arcing 220 volts inside the motor, I too ducked! The sparking turned into a steady whir and away it went!
Recently I decided to sell the B.C. as I had acquired a new fangled DeWalt. I placed an ad on Ebay and in the mean time, I used the DeWalt to plane some boards for my next project. After seeing the DeWalt strain and complain (I swear I heard it crying) on boards that my B.C. walked thru with ease, I immediately went up and canceled the ad for the 'ol beast and placed one for the DeWalt. Made money on the DeWalt and have a new respect for my old tool!
All parts except for the dust chute are original. The huge motor is a Peerless Electric 1 1/2 hp.
It's heavy, vibration free and works terrific!
