This is one of the first old machines I acquired. I bought it from the grandson of the original owner. He had the original manual and parts list. I quickly found out how important this can be, as the day after I got the saw home I discovered that the blade tilt gear was stripped. Fortunately, Sears still had the part and it wasn't TOO expensive.
Since I've owned the saw, I've made several upgrades to it. To start with, I built the stand you see in the photos. Then I added a new Delta fence. I was also lucky enough to find the solid cast iron extension wing that is on the right-hand side of the saw. These solid wings seem to be pretty rare. I think Sears only offered them one year. I also found an original blade guard. The bearings on the original 3/4 hp motor started to go out so I replaced it with a 1 hp. And finally, I had a new 5/8" arbor made for the saw (the old was only 1/2"). If you add it all up, I'm sure I've spent WAY more on this saw than it will ever be worth. But it's been a pretty good performer.
