I bought the Walker Turner band saw from Walker Turner Serviced Machinery in CT and did the restoration myself in November of 2004. Pretty complete except for the blade guard mechanism which I see is almost always missing. It was a rusty mess as indicated, needing the whole gambit of bearings, rust removal, and paint.
I thought it would be fun to show it with the saw it replaced. The delta was a 1950 machine which I bought from the original owner's son in 1980. He was forced to sell whatever he had at that time (he was only about 19) and I was grateful to get first choice on that nice machine. He stayed in the trade and occasionally would ask about getting it back. I finally relented in 2004 and he got a great tool back into the family especially since I did a complete restore on it in 1988. I really felt great about him getting it back and asked him if he had any kids who might who might enjoy the legacy after he is gone. his reply, "No, my wife is too ugly". ouch
Jeff at WTMS said the Walker Turner machine came from a carpenter's shop at a railroad yard in Essex, CT. The Delta machine was used by my friend's father to build boats in Salem, MA.
I aquired the very elusive fence for this saw in 2005 and have included some closeups of the business end of it for perusal. This fence is used on both the 16" and 14" model bandsaws but requires 4 small spacers for the slide bar on the smaller saw. This is actually a better fence than I thought it might be.
