I bought this grinder at a local school shop auction. At first I thought it was just a generic belt grinder but after closer observation I discover it was specially made for grinding woodworking tools, especially lathe tools. A bit of internet research turned up a description and led me to contact the Woodcraft Supply Co. for some more information. A very helpful technical services associate answered a few questions of mine and then kindly sent me photocopies of some catalog pages depicting the machine in question and a brochure of a slightly older version of the grinder.
As depicted below the machine is missing a 2 1/2"x60" abrasive belt over the large structural foam wheels . The opposite side holds an 8" buffing wheel. Also a bit of guarding is missing on the belt end. Otherwise the machine is complete and working.
The extendable double sided tool rest can be configured to sharpen gouges or straight edge tools.

Displaying how a turning gouge would be mounted for sharpening. The tool rest where the butt of the handle rests is two sided. For this task the v-shaped edge would be turned toward the wheel to contain the handle end.
