I found this machine in an antique center years ago. The condition was excellent: I needed only to equip it with a motor. I've had to do nothing to restore it; paint excellent, minor corrosion to the arms. This was the first product of the old Delta Specialty Company introduced in the early 1920's as a hand crank edition; toward the end of the decade it became motorized. It has no crankcase and utilizes a sliding "flybar" (detailed in photos; follow yellow arrow)to convert rotary motion into reciprocal action. There is no crankcase filled with oil. It's necessary to lubricate the flybar and up and down shaft externally. Instead of a spring return for the upstroke it utilizes the same parallel arm concept of many modern machines where the arm holding the blades moves up and down so the blade is under constant tension. It uses 6 1/2" pin end coping saw blades. Due to its design it runs at a rather slow speed so it cuts at a snails pace, although quite effectively.
