I purchased this pedestal grinder recently on everyone's favorite online auction. It looked like a good deal even though parts were missing. Baldor grinders are expensive, and so are the replacement parts. It was missing the end covers, tool rests, arbor flanges and nuts. When I got it I realized that the previous owner (since deceased) had probably been in the process of replacing the bearings and had partially disassembled it for that reason. The bearings were shot. I totalled up the cost of the missing parts from Baldor, and after my wallet stopped hurting I decided that I would forgo the manufactured end covers and make my own. Grinder guards are a must, and fortunately the main guards were intact, but I felt that the ends could be safely made of wood. I turned the bells out of cherry and glued them to 1/4" luann plywood. Suprisingly, the hardest part to get from Baldor was the left hand nut for the arbor. It finally arrived, and now the grinder is running. Since grinders spew grit all over through the exhaust ports I made canvas dust bags for each port.
