Comments:
I aquired this saw in 1983. Who ever designed Wallace equipment resisted the temptation to just copy whatever anybody else was doing at the time as about every element of their design is unique--with varing results I might add. The saw has a heavy cast iron base but the actual working surface is a cast web with sheet metal top. The edges of the table webbing was ground straight and square. There was no miter capablility, some saws did have a contraption which worked off the edge of the table casting but this one was either lost years ago or never existed. The rip fence also attaches directly to the table webbing--the saw did come with an extension top which extended rip capacity to 48" but it is not shown in the photos. The blade is gear driven to the inline 2 hp motor. It was this gear drive which finally forced me to abandon using the saw in 2006 as the gears had worn enough to bind slightly during shutdown and jar the blade nut loose-not a good situation. I also had to replace the original switch in 2004 with the one shown in the photos.
