Comments:
I bought this lathe and a Yates American J-line lathe off e-bay for the sum of $125.00.They both were in bad shape, mainly rust.I have just finished restoring both of them. This is the flat belt drive verison of the Barnes as the others I have seen were
treadle lathes (foot powered). The previous owner used this lathe for wood turning as it was manufactured as a metal lathe. The lathe was complete with all its parts and extra gears to change the speed of the cross slide. The lathe has bronze bearings and they are
in excellent condition.I haven't posted anything in awhile as I been busy with the barn
restore and cleaning up after the big flood we had here 3 weeks ago. Most of my machines were here in the barn and were O.K. as we are about 18'higher then the river. But I had about ten of my machines and eight machines of some other OWWM menbers that were in the warehouse down by the river. It wasn't a pretty site after the 4' of water finally left the warehouse (three days later).Been having a hell of a time with the insurance co.and the goverment(lots and lots of paper work and inspections).
