Machine was bought about 4 1/2 yrs ago
along with another Y & M 315 Double sided Side Sander and
a Y & M 306 Oscillating Spindle Sander, and a custom made Sander/Buffer
from the Vaughn Furniture Company in Galax Va.
My very first and farthest arn haul ever. 16 1/2 hrs one way
I bough two of them , to make sure I could make one totally complete double sided machine out of the two of them ,
The machine was bought New in 1940 by Vaughn , So I'm the second owner
I has sat in storage since I had the other doulble sided one running .who needs two
It came with a bad end bearing and shaft in the end Idler pully , which I promptly
took to machinest , and he promplty returned it finished 4 yrs later ( quick ah!)
So upon finally getting the New end Idler pully made , I through the rest of the parts
back onto the base . Compared it to the other nachine , everything still together
WOW, fired it up just a few mins ago and she runs like a top.
Machine is Single sided with a wood platten, and cast side table and cast end table .
Vaughn for some reason , took off the original 2 Hp motors and replaced them with these
massive 7 1/2 Hp , my only guess would be to add more mass to the machine , as they
notmally weigh in at just under 550 lbs , but with these motors they weigh in at
800 lbs for the single sided and 925 lbs for the doulbe side version.
They sure arn't that easy to move around .
Machine has since been busted up and sold to 2 different Owwm Members
