I found this at a garage sale approximately a year ago and passed it by. I gave the owner a call recently to ask if it was still for sale and picked it up for $125. It's in pretty clean shape and runs very smoothly. It doesn't have any significant rust, just a dark patina from being stored in a breezy/leaky garage for the last 1000 years. It came with a 2hp Delco motor that probably weighs as much as the planer itself. It was mounted on a jittery wooden base, so I strapped it pretty heavily on my trailer for the trip home. The base is now in the dumpster and the planer is awaiting restoration. It will probably be my winter project.
UPDATE approx 2 months later - Well, it's done. I need to work on a base for it and get to planing! This planer was in overall good mechanical shape before I started, it just had been weathered pretty bad where it had been stored for 20 years. I mainly used electrolysis and a pressure washer to clean the parts and prep for paint. New bearings, springs and an infeed roller seal were installed.
