I picked up this drill press for $40 at a local used tool store. This press is a floor standing unit and is just under six feet tall with a 20" round cast iron base. It has about 4" of travel and a easy to adjust swing head. All you have to so is to loosen the hand lever on the headstock and the head can be swung 360 degrees. There is even 2 grease fittings so you can grease the tube! The table does not tilt sadly, but I rarley ever use that feature so I can live with out it. The press was torn down and sandblasted. (except for the headstock which was chemical stripped) The cleaning of the rust off the tube was quite the project. What I did was to use my little 6x12 metal lathe to turn the tube with the tailstock and compound removed and the other end held in my bench vice with a block of wood. I was then able to spin the pipe while sanding the rust off. I also upgraded the motor with nice old heavy 3/4hp Dayton motor The finish is my etch primer/engine enamel paint procedure that I use for most all of my refurbs. (try it, and you will like it!) I traded handwheels with an OWWM member for the original style 4 spoke that belongs on it. The handle was cleaned up and the bakelite knobs placed on my lathe and sanded out like new. The table top is 1.5" of MDF edged in Imbuya.
I am still looking for the original belt cover, so please e-mail me if you know of one or have one to sell.
