I was going through the scrap metal pile at my Dad's to build a small gantry lift when his neighbor walked over to see what we were up to. When I mentioned I was going to trade several bundles of 1/2" EMT for some electrical components to get my Crescent Jointer running he asked if I wanted to see his toys. Never one to pass that oportunity up I found myself dragging this oldie out from behind his shed. He told me it had been outside for the last couple of years. He said, "If you want it you can have it" and I said "Sold".
We trundled it over to my Dad's barn and plugged it in and she runs like a champ. If the blade weren't broken I could have played with her right then. Still has a little original blueish paint (or is that oil stained grey?) underneath too.
The closest image I could find in the Pubs index was in the 1939 Companion Catalogue. The little research I've done so far indicates that K-S made tools for Sears between 1933 & 1941 with the Companion label before Dunlap took over. Couldn't find a J/SS that looks like this one in any earlier cats so I'm guessing 1938 or 39 for a BOD.
Resto will not be for awhile as I have to get some remodeling done first. Priorities you know.
