Another craigslist find in the far reaches of Mason county, WA. The 1937 machine was in a barn loft, open to the weather, roosting pigeons, and hornets. The building was part of a vending machine graveyard that had been overgrown by black berries, and included a camper, dead volvo, missing boat trailer, and 51' chevy pickup. The recovery outfit included a dust mask, bug headnet, gloves, and coveralls. The only missing was snakes and fortunately we dont have those in western Washington
The machine had to be fully disambled on site in order to remove it down a ladder. It was advertised as a Ward's Powr-Kraft, and I did not positive ID it until I returned home and checked this website.
Most of the ferrous part are moderately rusted, but are beginning to respond well to Kroil, electrolysis and the soft wire wheel. As far as I can tell, I'm the 4th or fifth owner of this saw. The seller told me a previous owner(2nd or 3rd), who sold the machine 20 years ago in Seattle, saw the craigslist posting and wanted to buy it and ship it to New Mexico .. apparently he recognized the home made stand the saw was mounted on.
It came with two motors, Wood Wizard No.140 (1/3 HP) and Westinghouse (1/4 HP continuous use)that both run smoothly.
I plan to use it in a home shop, until I can "flip" this and upgrade to something without potmetal parts. I'll update pictures when its finsihed.
