Comments:
Bought this little 8 inch table saw on Craigslist selling site. Came with a PowerKraft Motor, but motor was very loud, and vibrated, so I had a 1950s Craftsman motor and put it on this table saw and it worked fine, but still to high of speed (3450rmp). Repainted the saw with Rust-Oleum Gloss Charcoal Gray #7794830, as I didn't know what the saw's original color was, this color worked out fine. Later when I get time, I'll check out the old PowerKraft motor, as it probably needs Bearings. I've got another old M/W Powerkraft 8 in table saw I've had since the 1960's, and it's mounted on an old typewriter table and works fine, and is compact for storage.UPDATE: 4-10-2026,I haven't restored the 8 in table Saws much, but I did learn something about the motors. The PowrKraft motor I got with this saw, must have been from a 10 in saw, as the rpm on this motor and the Craftsmans motor I exchanged, are 3450 rpms, too much speed for these little 8 in table saws, as these saws are much lighter than the 10 in table saws. When I turned both motors on, on this table saw, I thought the saw was going to "take off" and the saw rattled all over, furiously, so My Stupid Mistake, and I hope my Stupidity will save someone else from doing the same thing. I had another 1/2 Hp motor with 1725 rpm, and I think this one will work much better, when I try it out. So I learned, different RPM Motors doesn't work on some machines. UPDATE 04-12-2026, 2 weird things, and missing part. Cut a couple boards, but to raise the Blade, you had to turn the handle counter-clockwise, and as the saw was running, the Blade slowly, started to move down, saw no lock to lock blade. TheM missing part, was the Motor Mount that turned the motor when you made vertical angle cuts. Hummm!! More Research? OK, looking for Help, need to figure out if this saw has a tilt motor mount when you cut the angles on a board. I've looked around on the Internet, but so far, came up empty. Let me know if you know, and pictures if possible. Thanks. Right now I'm Stumped.
