Comments:
This machine was purchased from the owner of Elemer's Barn in Coopers Mills, Maine for the low sum of 100 dollars. As a Railroad Machinist and a woodworker, I thought the low price, coupled with my knowledge of mechanics and tool machining would make for a great first restoration project, not to mention the thrill of having a working jointer of this size in my shop.

Orginally I thought the machine had seized up Babbitt Bearings, but when I got it home I realized the entire machine was intact. In fact, everything was freed up, from the main bearings to the jib set screws that adjust the table ends. I was also pleased to find out that the machine came with a fully adjustable fence system and had blades inside the jointer head, both saving me a lot of time in trying to obtain these items to complete the restoration. My greatest challenge will be figuring out a way to drive this machine. Currently I am planning on using the PTO of my Kubota tractor to power this machine.

Overall I am pleased with my purchase and hope to have it restored within a year. A new baby (expected any day now) might complicate things however.
