I bought this machine Nov 8, 2005 from King Surplus in Comfort Texas for $3250 delivered to Quigley Machine moving in Pacoima. This particular machine does not have a extendible quill so Z axis movement is by elevating/lowering the table. It is currently running from single phase 220VAC using a start capacitor and potential relay installed in the junction box on the back of the machine. When received it was wired for 440AC three phase

some correspondence with Abene that may be helpful is pasted below:

> I will recommend you to have something there.

Dear Bill
We have had flat belt and V-belt on our Machines.
You can't have oil leakage on the belt, and I think you must change the belt to solve the problem, 313213P 73,56 Euro.
Delivery time from stock.

Ämne: a new question about a VHF-3: SV: yet another question

Rolf - in the past you have helped me with questions on my old VHF-3 mill - it was built in 1970. I am having trouble with the flat belt that drives the gear box that moves the mill table - whenever I try to raise the table, the belt jumps off the pulley (pulley number 95, your part number 308.195a, and 311.109 (see diagram 308 and 311 in the manual). I believe this is because there is oil leakage so I am changing the oil seals (number 308.183). However I have some questions you can help me with:

1. I notice that the pulley on the motor (diagram 311) is shown as a flat belt style, but the pulley on the gear box (diagram 308) is shown as a V-belt style. Was there a change from one type of belt to the other? Do you have a recommendation beyond fixing the old oil seals as to what to do to keep the belt from slipping off when I attempt to raise the table - it is already quite tight, I cannot make it tighter.

2. Was this a problem that was later fixed by a different belt design, for example a polyribbed belt? since I have the machine apart it would not be hard to remachine the two pulleys for a different style of belt, but I would like the factory recommendation before I change anything.

kingsurpluscom is the seller.

This is the finest mill we have owned in 35 years of being in business. Its also the first we have ever owned. It is nice! VERY NICE! Yes the taper is standard. We are 30 min from the San Antonio airport. If your in Dallas it will take about 4.5 hrs driving or you can fly down on southwest airlines for about 95 bucks. If you have any questions please call Jack Spinks at 830-995-5000 ext. 104 or myself at ext. 110. Thanks for the question! Robin King Respond to this question in My Messages.
