Comments:
I purchased the lathe from Glacier Bay National Park (GSA auction) in 2024. It had been there since at least 1976 (where I used it occasionally). The original 3 phase motor had, at some point, been replaced with a GE 5KC184AG993A Tri-Clad 230V 1HP motor. This is a two speed motor but had been wired to the lower speed only. During rebuilding, I re-wired to both high and low speed with a rotary changeover switch. The cross-feed is a bit sloppy, the tightener crank and half nut cam both were broken (both have now been sloppily repaired using my stick welder), but otherwise the lathe seems in good shape after a complete disassembly, painting and refurbishing.
