Comments:
This is a delightful small 8" jointer by Herman Henry Klahn of Portland, Oregon, unfortunately lacking a fence. The overall length of the tables is a mere 39". I first spied this one in January of 2022, but at that time was not aware of its provenance. The second time I got a chance to buy it I pounced. It seems well made, certainly stout. The large diameter brass retainers screwed into the castings on either end of the cutterhead shaft are obviously related to the bearings but exactly how they work is not yet clear.
Discussion of the jointer and the man behind it can be found here: https://owwm.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=230725
