This old girl was headed to the dumpster when a good friend of mine snagged it for me.
She certainly is heavy, all cast iron, the better part of 100#. I dissasembled it, and stripped all the old paint and built up grinding slag off, then primed and painted her.
The attention to detail that American manufacturers used to put into their machines is certainly apparent here. The eye shields are die cast with safety glass and two lamps per shield. The tool rest are all at least 1/4" steel and have 3 adjustment points.
This is a 3 phase motor so I'm using a small inverter to drive it. One of the advantages of this method, is that the speed can be adjusted down so as not to overheat fine cutting edges.
The wheels are new and sadly aren't anywhere near as well balanced as the old ones were, with visible runout on each.
