I acquired this saw from a world famous luthier's wife. He unfortunately passed away. The saw was in very good condition overall. I have undertaken a full restoration of the machine. Prior to the luthier owning the saw it was originally owned by a woodworking business, but became dormant for several years. Upon tearing down the machine I did find one broken item which did not totally surprise me. The saw is a multi-speed machine. With a variable speed Reeves drive connected to a two range gearbox. The range change must take place while the machine is stopped. A cast yoke moves a sliding dog along shaft. If this is done while the machine is running the yoke takes a hit. It had and one of legs of the yoke snapped off. It was recovered deep in the gearbox grease. See pics. I had the original paint matched at Sherwin Williams. Perfect match. I also had new Rockwell labeling recreated from a photograph. I have many available should anyone want one.
