I'm very new to the machining hobby to me anyway. I've always wanted to learn this trade. I just acquired what I am told is an early 20's 12" Sidney metal lathe. I was walking through a shop when I saw this lathe and told the owner I was looking for something like this. He told me take it, I can't use it here as it just came as a package deal at an auction. That motivated to secure some help and a trailer. It now is mine. It's still quite tight and completely functioning with a power source converted to electric motor. Just a cleanup and some tooling, and lots of learning. I do have an experienced person who can help me occasionally. looks like fun. I'd really like some clear pictures of the plate that was on the top of the gearbox if anyone has one.
