I purchased the lathe from my neighbor, who was in his late 70s at the time. I had just retired and thought I’d finally dive into woodworking, mainly creating projects using salvaged wood. Noticing my newfound interest, my neighbor, Jeremy, mentioned that he had a lathe sitting in his garage that he was looking to part with.

When I went over to take a look, he shared the story behind it. The lathe had been a birthday gift from his father. Jeremy admitted that while he pretended to be excited about it at the time, woodworking was never really his passion. After opening the box to check out the contents, he sealed it back up, and as far as I know, it stayed that way until he showed it to me.

Eventually, I found myself coming out of retirement and returning to firefighting—this time flying drones. While I did create a few beautiful pieces of woodworking, the dream of fully immersing myself in the craft never quite took off. As a result, I never had the chance to fire up the lathe and use it. It remains NOS.
