I found this machine in an old building maint. shop. It had been sitting unused with bad bearings for several decades and had been abused as additional work bench surface. It had hammer dings, lots of slopped paint, and a motor housing packed with crud. I rebuilt it including new bearings, an armature rewind, cord, etc. There was a drawer in its base that had all of the original JD Wallace cutters, as listed in the catalogue showing this machine. There were several custom profile cutters as well. I repainted to match the original black and clear coat color scheme.

It's working just fine now.
The motor is 110 v universal type and spins at 10,000 rpm.
The 5/8" spindle is simply an extension of the armature shaft.
The main motor housing is clear coated cast aluminum.
The bell housings, base, and table are all cast iron. The upper bell housing and table have large acme threads. Cutter height is adjusted by rotating the table. A locking knob sets it firmly in place.
The original bearings were oil bath ball bearings. I replaced them with sealed ball bearings. There is a little rotational drag, but the originals were shot and i thought these may last longer.
The original fence was in great condition and cleaned up quite well. It lacks any type of fine adjustment, and i have to fabricate new clamps to hold it to the top, but it's quite solid and includes an integral dust collection port.
