Comments:
The previous owner, a retired woodworker, got this saw from his father who used it building houses. I based the age of the saw on the patent # on the front plate. This model was only made for a couple of years and was the prototype for the TA1180 cabinet saw. The base, frame, and top are cast iron. The arbor is geared direct to the motor(arbor shaft is about even with the top of the motor). The front arbor raising handle/shaft turns a vertical threaded rod that in turn raises/lowers the motor platform on two vertical 3/4" rods. Interestingly, the casting holding the shaft, worm gears, rods is pot metal. Motor is tagged as 1 hp, 110/220v, 11.2/5.6 amp, 3450 rpm. Serial #183932
The top left part of the motor platform casting (left side of motor 2nd picture) had been broken & welded. The worm gear on the arbor raising shaft is so badly damaged that it needs to be replaced. I have completely disassembled the saw and am starting a search for replacement parts.
Yes, that is the original WT on/off switch. The front black handle is not.
