Comments:
This Stanley Overarm Router features a fairly modern Stanley Electric nameplate with no mention of R.L. Carter, the originators of Stanley's router and electric shaping tools. As with similar Stanley/Carter machines, this unit features a foot pedal that pulls a roller chain that, in turn, pulls the router head down to one of three indexing stops. The previous owners, a gasket manufacturer, set up a machine-tool collet under the table so that pin routing could be done, including the use of different sized pins.

The router pictured came from a local hardware store. The clerk didn't have prices for the new-in-the-box Stanley R51 router, so he charged me the same as a Bosch 1-1/4 hp router. I think I paid $115 dollars for it.

A pivoting under-table bracket mount was also acquired later. This came with an M110 motor unit that runs on 220 V. I have been unable to find brushes for that motor yet. The fence pictured is a Delta shaper fence. All cast iron, this machine is definitely in the Heavyweight weight class.
