Comments:
The Taylor-Hobson Model C Pantograph is thought to be the first pedestal engraving machine ever manufactured. It was preceded by bench-top tools from about 1887. The model C was manufactured up to the end of the 1940’s, and we think that this one is a late model. The Model C is capable of engraving any material up to the softer steels in terms of hardness. It will engrave HSS and harder materials with specialist cutters that (as of 2024) still occasioanlly turn up on the second hand market.
